Where has all the passion gone - where once you knew the way?
Zeal stirs up the majority, “for
I know your willingness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians,
that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal has stirred up the
majority” 2 Corinthians 9:2, Just
look at the Presidential campaign; if there’s one word to
describe what this voting generation wants, it’s
“Zeal.” The news media calls it “change”
but what people are really crying out for is Passion: Passion of
Pursuit.
Webster’s description of Zeal: Eagerness and ardent interest in pursuit of something
Webster’s description of Passion: A strong liking or desire for
or devotion to some activity, object, or concept.
Just this week while house hunting, we met several agents and Banking
officials. The common denominator with them all was a very
“ho-hum”, lackadaisical (passionless) attitude. This
attitude was common from the agents who were uninspired in writing an
offer, to the loan agents preparing approvals for the hefty loans that they would
make. I kept thinking and hoping that our energy would transfer
to those around us, but the reality is, that passion can never be
manufactured from without: Only from within.
There are many in life, who are doing what they love, but you’d
never know it! There are many in life who are doing what they
think is right, yet never aligning themselves in Christ to know
what’s right. And there are many in life just existing day to day
waiting for a better tomorrow, never understanding that tomorrow may
not be better.
James 4:13-17, "13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we
will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and
make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen
tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a
little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say,
“If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16
But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17
Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is
sin."
Waiting to be happy is a squanderous sin that has great
consequence! Hope, faith, earnest expectation are all gifts of
Grace that are expected to be an intricate part of a believers
life-But to wait for something better, without gratitude for
what is in your hand right now, will produce sorrow un-ending, and
one day my friend, you may wake to find that your days have passed and
you did not live them, only exist in them.
“Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as
nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but
vapor. Selah” Psalm 39:5
This
morning I had purposed in my heart that I wanted to work with a
younger, more aggressive and energetic person and so I began thinking
about all those whom we had come in contact with over the past several
weeks. I remembered one girl around my age whom I really enjoyed, but I
wondered why someone fairly new to the industry wasn’t more
excited and eager: Her outlook on the market was so bleak, that we left
depressed!
Now on the flip side, Rev & I met an older gentleman representing a
local builder. The minute we walked in the building and made eye
contact, both Rev and I could see and feel his passion and Love.
So you see Lovelies, it’s not about age at all: It’s about
the effervescence of life emanating from you to those around you. Even in the most mundane of times,
Jesus is there with you working all things out. Your
ministry, work and calling given you was never meant to
be cumbersome or a burden to your days, but a refreshing time of
renewal and strength, and a time of life to enjoy what you do
have, at the time you have it. For who is to say what will be in a
moment's wink?
Beloved, ponder these words of John 15:5-8,
“I am the
vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not
abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they
gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you
abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire,
and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that
you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. “
You
are a vine in Jesus, and separate from Jesus you will not find peace,
happiness, contentment, purpose, provision, or passion! What you
will find is frustration and passionless pursuits trying to fill the
vast void that comes to all when one separates from The Guiding Light.
If you want to change the world around you, do not become like
it! See, hear, and walk in The Spirit and you will not find time
for the demands of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16, "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."
Stand
firm and do not forget your understanding of truth of who and why you
are. Believe in yourselves and do not see through the eyes of
distraction and clouds of doubt. You are mighty,
worthy, ,and held in high esteem. Jesus sees your works and
He calls you Good and Faithful.
Ephesians 2:1-5 "And you He made
alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked
according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our
flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by
nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were
dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you
have been saved),"
HERE’S THE NUGGET:
Pray for new things to come forth and have faith to believe, but as you
believe for your desires to be fulfilled, do not cease to live and
enjoy the fragrance of the blossoms before the fruit arrives. For
everything works in a timely manner, and anxiety and stress will
not move one pebble of the mountain: Only by faith and knowing that all
things are possible.
Until next time,
Remember that the kingdom is likened unto a pearl..search!
